I have been taking a little cloth and putting a small bit of purell hand sanitizer on it and then rubbing it on my computer to clean it. It gets all of the dirt off very well but I'm wondering if it's safe to use or if it will wreck the computer.Can I clean my macbook (aluminum casing) with purell?
Just use a slightly dampened (with water) microfiber cloth.
That's all you need, screen and all.

A resounding no, but sooner or later the external finishing on your casing will begin to fade. However, no adverse effect on its interior.
Notwithstanding the above, I would refrain from doing so if I were you.
